slime mold and fungi

The world of slime molds is completely new to me and it's a subject I had never photographed before since the beginning of my macro journey. I quickly fell in love with these incredibly beautiful little subjects and I love their unique architecture.

Slime molds are neither animals, plants nor fungi. They are fascinating organisms that belong to their own group and have a unique life cycle. They can move, adapt to their environment and eventually form these incredible fruiting bodies that look almost unreal at a macro scale.

They are extremely small, sometimes less than a millimeter and photographing them is a real challenge. I use both a traditional macro lens and microscope objectives to capture the beautiful details they can reveal.
